Well, it’s pretty hectic right now in the Detty world. Aside from the usual family stuff, there’s a lot going on writing-wise.
So, first of all, we have Cheating Death which is with the editors right now. That’s coming out in late August and I’m really excited to see what you all think of it. This one is especially close to my heart as our Labrador Peanut – the namesake of the Jackson family pet – died suddenly last month. I’ve dedicated this book to her.
Next in planning for the Jackson’s Diary series is Scooter’s New Puppy which I think is going to pretty funky. And we’ll learn a little bit more about Boris’ plans. Intriguing, huh?
The first book in the Kanga Roopert & the Clubhouse Coders series Mrs. Mully’s Missing Moggy has passed through the various stages of editing and I was piddling-my-pants excited to receive the proof copy. I just know you’re going to LOVE it! I’m doing something a bit different with this one so there’s a whole heap of extra work to go into the launch. I’m expecting this book to be out on shelves closer to Christmas, but I’m including some funky VR pieces so there are a few techy bits still to complete. If you’re a subscriber or a Kickstarter backer, this one’ll include a Scratch project to go with the theme of the book, and also a colouring book with all the illustrations.
The illustrations for the second book in the Kanga Roopert & the Clubhouse Coders series – Bananas, Burgers and Beetroot – are coming along nicely. I’m introducing a couple of new characters and you’ll see them on the Kanga Roopert website over the next couple of weeks, so keep a look out for them.
And finally, I’m working on a collaborative project in the vein of Dr. Seuss (if you hadn’t notice, he’s one of my favourite storytellers) which is a book of ABCB-type rhymes about lots of exotic creatures. But more about that later!
